Full Album Stream: Jonny Fritz, Dad Country
We’re big fans of Jonny Fritz, the joke-cracking, countryfied songwriter formerly known as Jonny Corndawg. By mixing the old-school sounds of honky tonk and outlaw country with equal doses of humor and heart, he’s been carving out his own space in roots music. Today, we’re happy to premiere his third album, Dad Country, which doubles as his first release for ATO Records.
Fritz has always kept good company, sharing the stage with top-tier acts like Mumford & Sons and Dawes while promoting his past two albums. Appropriately enough, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith co-produced Dad Country. The group recorded the house at Jackson Browne’s Los Angeles studio, but it’s the entire American landscape — the small town bars, the big city girls, the oddball characters who populate the stretches of land in between — that fuels these tunes.
